**To Do** in the sidebar opens your to do list over the page you are on. It has two tabs:

| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| **To-Do** | Your own to do list, which is not part of any project |
| **Projects** | The tasks assigned to you in one project at a time. The tab only appears when you have tasks in at least one project |

**Close**, the cross at the top right, closes the list and returns you to the page underneath.

## Your to do list

**To-Do** shows a single list, **To Do**, holding the tasks assigned to you and the tasks not
assigned to anyone.

The arrow beside the list name collapses and expands it.

### Adding a task

1. Select **Add a Task** at the bottom of the list.
2. Type the task's name in **My new task**.
3. Fill in any of the other fields.
4. Select **Save**.

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The task's name. Required: **Save** stays unavailable until it is filled in |
| **Assigned to** | Who does the task. New tasks are assigned to you. Choose other users to put the task on their to do lists as well |
| **Due Date** | When the task is due. It is shown in red on the task's row. Hovering over it shows how many days until it is due, or how many days overdue it is |
| **Description** | Details of the task, shown when the task is opened |
| **Colour** | A colour marker shown before the task's name |

After **Save**, the form stays open for the next task. **Close** ends it.

### Working with a task

Each task row shows, from left to right:

- a handle for dragging the task up or down the list. The order is saved for you only
- the circle that marks the task complete. When the task has subtasks that are not complete, the
circle shows how many are left, and clicking it opens the subtasks instead
- who the task is assigned to. Click it to change the assignees
- the task's colour, its name, its tags and its due date

Clicking the task's name opens its details. The icons at the end of the row are:

| Icon | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Edit** | Opens the task's fields for editing |
| **Delete** | Deletes the task, after you confirm. It cannot be recovered |
| **Subtasks** | Shows the task's subtasks, with **Add a Subtask** to add one |
| **Add tag** | Adds project tags to the task |
| **Progress** | Sets how far through the task is, from 0% to 100%, with a slider |
| **Log Time** | Records time spent on the task. See [Time tracking](https://help.clockworkcrm.com/projects/time) |
| **Comments** | Opens the task at its comments. Shows the number of comments once there are any |
| **Files** | Opens the task at its files. Shows the number of files once there are any |
| **Time Estimate** | Sets how long the task should take, in **Hours** and **Minutes** |

Completed tasks are hidden. **Show Completed** appears once a list has completed tasks, and shows
them again. **Hide Completed** hides them.

### Moving a task into a project

A task on your to do list can be moved into a project:

1. Click the task's name to open its details.
2. Select **Move Task**.
3. Choose the **Project**, then the **Task List** to move it to.
4. Select **Move Task**.

The task's logged time, comments and files move with it. The task then appears on the **Projects**
tab when it is assigned to you.

## Your project tasks

**Projects**, headed **Assigned Project Tasks**, shows your tasks in one project.

![The Projects tab: your tasks in the selected project, grouped by task list](https://clockworkcrm.blob.core.windows.net/public-internal/docs/todo/todo-projects.png?v=d75c76c5)

1. Choose the project in **Selected Project**. You can type in the list to filter the projects.
Only projects where you have tasks are listed, and the first one is selected when the tab opens.
2. Your tasks are shown under their task lists. Task lists that are marked complete are left out.

The tab shows tasks assigned to you and tasks that are not assigned to anyone. The rows and icons work
as they do on your to do list, except that tasks cannot be dragged into a different order here.
**Add a Task** under a list adds a task to that list in the project.

When the project has task properties, they appear on the task form. See
[Task properties](https://help.clockworkcrm.com/projects/task-properties).

## The task panel

Clicking a task's name opens **Task Details** on the right. It is the same panel as in a project:

| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Move Task** | Moves the task to another project and task list |
| **Follow** | Subscribes you to the task. Once you follow it, the button shows **Following**, with **Mute**, **Unmute** and **Unfollow** |
| **Log Time** | Records time spent on the task |
| **Edit Task** | Changes the task's details |
| **Task History** | Shows who changed what on the task, and when |

Below them are the task's description, its subtasks, any task properties, its time logs, its files
and its comments. See [Task lists and tasks](https://help.clockworkcrm.com/projects/tasks#the-task-panel).

Clicking outside the panel closes it.
